Patient Stories
Stories from those who have been impacted by erectile dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) can limit your intimacy, affect your self-esteem, and impact the relationship with your partner. 1 It can be caused by many factors including prostate cancer treatment, diabetes, or even cardiovascular disease. 2 Medication and pills may help treat ED in some, but it does not work for everyone. For those men, other treatment options may offer a more permanent solution for treating their ED. Every day, men and their partners turn to their doctors to find a cure for ED. Here are their stories.
Kerry and Vilma
Kerry suffered from erectile dysfunction caused by his diabetes and tried multiple treatments over the years. Erectile dysfunction medications and pills eliminated spontaneity, and Kerry did not like the injections. Vilma, Kerry's wife, felt like it was her fault when they tried to have sex and nothing worked. After exploring other options and deciding on a penile implant, they realized what they had been missing.
Edwin
Edwin suffered from age-related erectile dysfunction and decided to improve his quality of life and get a penile implant. After contacting the hospital where he would have the procedure, he was pleased to find that it was covered by his insurance plan. Edwin's physician used the AMS 700™ implant because this device provides great success with a low infection rate.
Fabio
Fabio experienced erectile dysfunction after undergoing a prostatectomy and receiving radiation to treat his prostate cancer. He considered the different treatment options available to restore his erections, and ultimately selected the penile implant. After his penile implant surgery, Fabio had some discomfort but never really felt significant pain or took pain medications. An implant was a better option for Fabio than the pills because he wanted something that always worked and still felt all-natural.
Marsha and Graham
Graham was totally and completely impotent and nothing pharmaceutically was going to fix the issue. He had tried Cialis™ and The Muse for his erectile dysfunction, but they didn't work for him. The penile implant was the solution that served him and Marsha best. Now, he says, "When I want to get an erection, it works every time. And it doesn’t hurt at all."
