Matthew Simmons, MD, PhD, FACS

Dr. Simmons specializes in urologic oncology. His expertise is in minimally-invasive and robotic surgery. He attended medical school at Stanford University, and completed residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He remained on staff at the Cleveland Clinic as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Urologic Oncology. In 2013 he moved to Bend, and conducts laparoscopic and robotic surgery at St. Charles Medical Center. Since 2005, he has conducted more than 800 laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. Of these he has conducted over 400 partial nephrectomy surgeries, over 200 laparoscopic and robotic prostatectomy surgeries, and over 100 laparoscopic and robotic surgeries for reconstruction of the kidney, ureter, and bladder.

He is certified by the American Board of Urology, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is an active member of the American Urological Association and the Society for Urologic Oncology. He is an active reviewer of numerous journals including the Journal of Urology, European Urology and Urology and Urologic Oncology. He has over 50 peer-reviewed publications and has written five book chapters on the subjects of prostate and kidney cancer.
